An exciting new environmental education and arts project funded by the Heritage Lottery is now running at The Ecology Centre.
Wild Things in the Woods will give vulnerable young people from all over Fife the opportunity to explore and learn about the natural surroundings of The Ecology Centre.
Environmental games, activities and experiences will lead to the creation of artworks celebrating natural places and the traditional folklore that surrounds them. In years past faerie and folktales were used to explain the mysteries of nature. The project will explore ways we can capture this magic and tell these tales in new ways. Participants in the project have been making giant tree puppets, masks, hats, and bottle beasties, creations which will soon be joined by scary faerie sculptures and outdoor mosaics.
The project will culminate in a week-long celebration at The Ecology Centre when participants artwork will be on display to the public. On Sunday 14th December the young people involved will lead a dusk procession through The Ecology Centre grounds. Storytelling, music, performance and art will bring The Ecology Centre site alive, communicating some of the magic of wild places and wild things. Members of t he public will be able to join us for an afternoon which might be spooky, sinister, magic and inspiring. If you've got folktales to tell, or art materials to donate or if you're interested in getting involved with the project then please contact the project coordinator Claire on 01592 891567 or claire@theecologycentre.org
